KIMBRA
Kimbra exchanged the electronics and careful production of her studio recordings for a raw and vulnerable orchestral re-imagining of four songs from her back catalog, while debuting three new ballads from her then-forthcoming LP4, A Reckoning. Her elastic voice, poetic lyricism, and deeply personal songwriting were forefront and exquisite.
She was accompanied by pianist Sara Goldstone, double bassist Burniss Earl Travis II, and a string quartet led by Margot on first violin, Mario Gotoh on second violin, Tia Ivonne Allen on viola, and Jessica Wang on cello. String arrangements derived from Owen Palette (Arcade Fire) on Version of Me and Van Dyke Parks on As You Are.
Kimbra is a two Grammy Awards, four ARIA Music Awards, and seven New Zealand Music Awards winner. She is the feature on Gotye’s hit, Somebody That I Used to Know.
