Zé ibarra, dora morelenbam and julia mestre
Just two days after winning their first Latin Grammy, Zé Ibarra, Dora Morelenbaum, and Julia Mestre of Bala Desejo graced us with a performance that left many wondering why we don't live in Rio de Janeiro. They sang effortlessly, each voice as beautiful as the next, harmonizing together as much in spirit as in tone. Though they missed their fourth member, Lucas Nunes, it was fitting that he was performing in Brazil with none other than legend Caetano Veloso that very night. For those of us in Brooklyn, we felt like we were witnessing heirs to that legacy.

Two days after winning their first Latin Grammy in November 2022, Zé Ibarra, Dora Morelenbaum, and Julia Mestre of Bala Desejo graced us with a performance that left many wondering why we don't relocate to Rio de Janeiro. The trio sang effortlessly, each voice as beautiful as the next, harmonizing together as much in spirit as in tone. Though they missed Lucas Nunes, their partner in Bala Desejo, it was fitting that he was performing in Brazil with none other than legend Caetano Veloso that very night. For those of us in Brooklyn, we felt like we were witnessing heirs to Veloso’s legacy. We’re proud to present the recording of this very special acoustic performance, a collection of 9 songs that includes re-imaginations from Sim Sim Sim, Bala Desejo’s debut album, as well as covers from Brazilian icons Chico Buarque, Dorival Caymmi, and Caetano Veloso. -
